Murals + Public Art

Murals + Public Art

Murals and public art are a powerful way to tell stories, activate shared spaces, and reflect the identities of the people who live, work, and gather there. At 1001 Colors, we create public art that is rooted in community voice, artistic collaboration, and intentional process.

Our murals and public art projects are developed in partnership with communities, organizations, and artists to ensure each work is meaningful, site‑responsive, and grounded in local context. From early conversations through design and installation, we prioritize listening, collaboration, and respect for place.

All mural commissions are created through the 1001 Colors Mural Studio.

The 1001 Colors Mural Studio

The Mural Studio is where creative vision becomes reality. The 1001 Colors Mural Studio is our in‑house production team dedicated exclusively to creating high‑quality, commissioned murals for private clients. The Mural Studio manages the full lifecycle of each project, from concept development and design through production and installation, delivering bold, professionally executed artwork tailored to each client’s goals.

The Mural Studio creates custom works for commercial, institutional, and private spaces of varying size and scope, including interior and exterior murals, and site‑specific installations. Every project is commissioned work, shaped by the client’s vision, brand, budget, timeline, and site requirements.

Projects are carried out by a team of emerging creative professionals who manage every phase of the work, from planning and design through execution and installation. The team is led by an experienced professional artist manager who provides creative oversight, direction, and quality control, ensuring clear communication and reliable project delivery from start to finish.

The result is visually impactful, professionally produced mural work, customized for each space and purpose, and delivered by a trusted creative team with decades of experience bringing ambitious ideas to life in public‑facing and private environments.

Project placement is very important for a variety of reasons. Placement can help inspire creative direction, size of the location helps determine an appropriate budget and helps 1001 Colors employ the right size team for production. If you do not have a specific location in mind, please share your desired project placement with us (i.e. neighborhood, district, city, etc.).

Budget *

1001 Colors relies on partnerships for funding our projects. Typically, an 1001 Colors exterior mural project costs $30,000 - $100,000 depending on size of project, site preparations, team size, etc. Other types of projects such as smaller scale interior murals, sculpture, etc. can go below or above this range. Are you able to provide financial support for this project? We know that sometimes securing funds may require fundraising, so it is okay if you do not have the funds currently. However, we ask that you identify a budget that you would be able to commit to.

Typical 1001 Colors projects require planning for 6-12 months before project production. Factors that can impact timeline are fundraising, site availability, complexity of the work, desired artist, etc. Is your project time sensitive?
