Why 1001 Colors?!?!?

A Bold New Name for a Limitless Future

For 30 years, we have been known as ArtWorks.

Together, we’ve painted the town, literally, partnering with artists and communities to create art that reflects the stories that makes us proud to call Cincinnati home. Today, we proudly carry that legacy forward as we step into a new era…

ArtWorks is NOW...

Why the Change?

As we opened our permanent creative campus and united our work under one roof, we needed a name that reflected who we are today and the growing impact we’re building for young people and communities. While we’re proud of our ArtWorks history, the name is widely used nationwide. To protect our brand and signal our future, we chose a name we could truly own with no confusion.

A Name Revealed by History

We didn’t come up with the name, our building revealed it.

During renovations of our Creative Campus at 2429 Gilbert Avenue, formerly the Bolce Paint Company, we uncovered a hand-painted sign hidden beneath the old facade:

“1000 & 1 Colors.”

Inside, pastel-painted ceiling beams showcasing color inspired us to creative possibilities without limits. The discovery echoed our belief that creativity is infinite and every voice matters, a legacy we proudly carry forward.

Clear Purpose, Driving Creative Impact.

Our name has changed, but the spirit of our mission remains the same, only sharpened.

1001 Colors produces world class public art and creative projects that employ and develop youth, strengthen communities, and support artists at every stage.

For three decades, you have believed in our artists, our city’s young people, and the power of creativity to transform communities. Because of your support, we grew into an organization that has made a mark shaping careers, neighborhoods, and futures.

As 1001 Colors, we honor what we’ve built together and invite you to step into the future with us, where bold art continues to build bright futures for generations to come.
