Kiddy Kare Young People’s Liberation School partnered with ArtWorks to produce a mural that speaks to young people’s important role in writing their own futures.
This project, designed by Mural Studio Artists Ella Emanuel, Maria Hart, and Miles Brueggemeyer, celebrates how students embody Black history through their work in the classroom. It borrows inspiration from pan-African colors, African textiles, and Adinkra symbols.
Throughout the mural, viewers can see two students bursting with creativity, surrounded by images of freedom fighters, historical figures, and KKYPLS’s founders. The ananse ntontan, representing wisdom, bursts from the corner, overarching the design and inspiring a dedication to learning.
