All Along the Control Tower

Designer: Christian Dallas

Public Art Gallery

The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) partnered with ArtWorks in 2021 to create two larger-than-life murals in the airport’s rental car facility and terminal expansion. All Along the Control Tower is one of two in the building extension, located on the third floor.

What’s on the horizon? This question was the driving creative force for Northern Kentucky-based artist, Christian Dallas, in designing and painting All Along the Control Tower. Not only does this artwork give the viewer a look beyond the control tower windows, but it also provides a snapshot of the work that was contributed within it.

This unique perspective aims to celebrate the many people who have helped create such a vibrant and important institution for the region. Looking through the windows of the control tower, the viewer can explore and spot many regional landmarks, aviation icons, and important elements that tie the mural to the Cincinnati region.

Going further, Dallas drew inspiration for the overall design aesthetic by referencing the iconic Winold Reiss mosaic pieces that have been on display at CVG (and some now downtown Cincinnati) for many years.
