Geometric Pathways: A Tribute to Walnut Hills at it's heart honors the rich history of Walnut Hills through its surrounding architecture, public art, and murals.
Inspired by the neighborhood’s visual landscape, the design draws particular influence from Charles Gaines’ mural grid patterns and the intricate tilework of the Bolce Building which is now the 1001 Colors Creative Campus. By incorporating these geometric elements, Geometric Pathways creates a playful yet harmonious design that enhances the streetscape without overshadowing its surroundings.
More importantly, this crosswalk serves as a visual acknowledgment of the lasting cultural contributions of Walnut Hills’ Black community, offering a safe and engaging space that reflects the vibrancy of the neighborhood.
Designed by Adrienne Dixon, Geometric Pathways: A Tribute to Walnut Hills celebrates the rich history and cultural contributions of the community while creating a meaningful connection between the artwork and the streetscape.
