What happens when a logo stops being a static symbol and becomes a living, breathing canvas?
As we began the process to transition from ArtWorks to 1001 Colors, we set out, with the amazing creative agency Six Cinquieme, to develop a visual identity that reflects our belief that art is a collective journey, shaped by many voices and never confined to a single perspective. We imagined an icon that could shift, evolve, and transform, passing through the hands of artists like a shared spark. Instead of holding meaning in one fixed form, it would expand, inviting interpretation, collaboration, and reinvention at every turn. We ultimately were able to create a logo that achieve just that!

As we began to gear up for our rollout we wanted to show this canvas in action, so we invited 14 artists, connected to 1001 Colors, to step inside the lines of our logo and reimagine it completely. Under the direction of Grammy-nominated art director and former 1001 Colors teaching artist Jason Snell, the animation unfolds as a continuous, fluid transformation. The logo becomes more than a mark, it becomes a portal, absorbing and reflecting each new perspective as it moves from one artist’s interpretation to the next.
As the film progresses, the logo transforms again and again, never resetting, always building. In one moment, it holds bold, geometric precision. In the next, it dissolves into painterly textures, fluid abstraction, or intricate, narrative-driven illustration. Each transition feels intentional and connected, as if the icon is remembering every version of itself while becoming something new.
This project is grounded in collaboration. Each segment introduces a completely original interpretation shaped by the artist’s own voice, perspective, and lived experience.
The film features the work of Adrienne Gaither, Aly Senger, Anissa Pulcheon, Batres Gilvin, Dahlia Wang, Dai Williams, Dutana D, Evan Hildebrandt, Jeni Jenkins, John Lanzador, Kate Tepe, Lizzy DuQuette, Mackie Herrlinger, and Mark Duc Nguyen. Together, their contributions transform the icon into something larger than any single vision, a collective expression of creativity in motion.
The result is an identity that refuses to stand still. It challenges the idea that consistency requires uniformity and instead shows that a brand can grow stronger by making space for others. By turning the logo into a canvas, we open the door to endless possibility, where the logo is not just recognized, but experienced.
The logo evolves. The brand expands. The canvas is open.
