Athletes in Unconventional Spaces - FotoFocus Opening Reception

Please join us for the opening reception of Athletes in Unconventional Spaces, an outdoor solo exhibition featuring large-scale photographs created by local artist, Romain Mayambi. Athletes in Unconventional Spaces is a photographic project that challenges traditional ideas about where athleticism belongs. By placing athletes in environments not typically associated with sport, the work disrupts expectations and invites viewers to reconsider the boundaries imposed by societal norms. These images highlight the tension between movement and setting, creating moments that feel both unfamiliar and empowering.

Located between the Pickleball Courts and the Riverfront Rink at Sawyer Point (815 E Pete Rose Wy, Cincinnati, OH 45202), Mayambi's photographs will transform a popular sports and recreation corridor of this Cincinnati Parks location into an outdoor gallery space for all to see and enjoy. The opening reception will include music, light refreshments, and remarks from the artist.
