Bring a Public Art Idea to Life

Murals and public art are powerful tools for storytelling, connection, and activating shared spaces. They can reflect the identities of the people who live, work, and gather nearby while creating lasting visual impact.

At 1001 Colors, we create public art through thoughtful partnership, artistic collaboration, and intentional process. We work with organizations, institutions, businesses, and public entities to develop murals and public artworks that are site‑responsive, meaningful, and grounded in local context.

If you have an idea, a potential site, or an early concept, we invite you to begin the conversation by completing our partner project request form. This is a rolling submission for future public art projects with 1001 Colors.

Because of the complexity of public art, significant lead time is often required for a project to move from concept to completion.

Our Approach to Public Art

Every public art project begins with listening. From early conversations through design and installation, we prioritize collaboration, clear communication, and respect for place. Projects are developed in partnership with clients and stakeholders to ensure that each artwork aligns with the site, audience, and goals of the project.

While project scope and process vary, our focus remains consistent, delivering high‑quality artwork that balances artistic vision with practical considerations such as budget, timeline, and feasibility.

Create With Us

1001 Colors partners with neighborhood groups, nonprofits, schools, businesses, and public entities to create murals and public art that reflect place, people, and purpose.

Whether you have a specific site identified or are just beginning to explore possibilities, we welcome conversations about how public art can support your goals.

What Happens After You Submit a Request

Once you complete the project request form, a member of the 1001 Colors team will review your submission and follow up to discuss your goals, timeline, and overall feasibility.

Submitting a request does not guarantee project acceptance. It allows us to explore alignment, resources, and potential paths forward together.

Do you have a specific location for your project concept? If so, please provide the address below.

Project placement is very important for a variety of reasons. Placement can help inspire creative direction, size of the location helps determine an appropriate budget and helps ArtWorks employ the right size team for production. If you do not have a specific location in mind, please share your desired project placement with us (i.e. neighborhood, district, city, etc.).

Budget *

ArtWorks relies on partnerships for funding our projects. Typically, an ArtWorks exterior mural project costs $30,000 - $100,000 depending on size of project, site preparations, team size, etc. Other types of projects such as smaller scale interior murals, sculpture, etc. can go below or above this range. Are you able to provide financial support for this project? We know that sometimes securing funds may require fundraising, so it is okay if you do not have the funds currently. However, we ask that you identify a budget that you would be able to commit to.

Desired Production Timeline

Typical ArtWorks projects require planning for 8 - 12 months before project production. Factors that can impact timeline are fundraising, site availability, complexity of the work, desired artist, etc. Is your project time sensitive?
