1001 Colors and Pones are teaming up to activate visual art through dance! We are seeking 8 Performance Artists (ages 14-21) to choreograph and perform an original piece inspired by 1001 Colors mural “Commons”. Designed by Shahzia Sikander, the mural reflects themes of identity, power, autonomy, and the right for women to be heard and seen. Painted feminine figures, flowers, and winged creatures are set against a striking turquoise and royal blue background. Performance Artists will research, experiment, and collaborate alongside professional dancers, activists, and artists for 10 weeks to prepare their final performance, which will be presented at BLINK at the site of the “Commons” mural.
